Using Family Mode in Cardiogram

Family Mode allows another Cardiogram user to remotely view your heart rate data and trends. It’s a great way for loved ones or caregivers to stay informed about your cardiovascular health.

💡 Only the person sharing their data needs a Cardiogram subscription. The person viewing the data does not need to pay.

🧠 How Family Mode works

When you share your Family Code, the other person can access your Cardiogram data from their own app. This includes your heart rate patterns, trends, and timeline entries.

⚠️ Please note:

• Heart rate alerts are not sent to family members
• Real-time monitoring is not supported due to syncing limitations

🔄 How syncing works (device-specific)

Cardiogram imports your heart rate data from your wearable’s health platform — not directly from the watch. Syncing intervals vary:

🍎 Apple Watch

• Syncs to Apple Health periodically in the background
• Cardiogram imports data from Apple Health
• New data typically appears within a few minutes

📱 Fitbit / Google Pixel Watch

• Syncs when the Fitbit app is opened on your phone
• Cardiogram imports data once Fitbit has synced
• Open the Fitbit app once or twice daily to ensure data flows

📡 Garmin

• Syncs periodically or on manual sync via the Garmin Connect app
• Cardiogram imports data after Garmin Connect receives it
• Open Garmin Connect to trigger sync, especially if it hasn’t synced in a while

🤖 Wear OS & Samsung Galaxy Watch

• Cardiogram collects heart rate data on the watch itself
• Data is sent in 15-minute batches to the phone
• The Cardiogram watch app must be running in the background to take readings

📤 Sharing with another user

To share your data with a family member:

1. Ensure they have the Cardiogram app installed
2. Open your Cardiogram app and go to the "Report" tab
3. If prompted, tap "See My Score" to unlock features
4. Scroll down to “Share with Family”
5. Choose a code and tap "Share"
6. Send that code to your family member or caregiver

✅ How to accept a Family Code

To add someone else’s data to your Cardiogram app:

1. Open your Cardiogram app
2. Tap the ☰ menu in the top-left corner of the Timeline page
3. Tap "Enter Family Code"
4. Paste the code you received

👀 Viewing someone else’s data

Once you’ve accepted their code:

1. Open the ☰ menu
2. Tap the person’s name under your profile
3. You can now switch between viewing your own and their Cardiogram data

🔒 Stop sharing your data

To revoke access:

1. Go to the "Report" tab
2. Scroll to “Share with Family”
3. Find the person’s name
4. Tap “Revoke Access”
