How do my metrics affect my risk scores?
Your Report Card risk scores are calculated using multiple health metrics that Cardiogram tracks over time. These scores are designed to reflect changes in your overall health, but interpreting what caused a score to shift can sometimes be complex.
🧠 How the algorithm works
The Cardiogram algorithm takes many factors into account, including:
• Recent data is more influential
Your most recent week’s data has a bigger impact on your score than older data
• Patterns matter
Your metrics' weekly trends play a role, not just isolated values.
• Multiple metrics are evaluated together
Your score is based on a combination of inputs, such as:
- Resting heart rate
- Exercise minutes
- Sleep
- Physical profile (weight, age, height)
🤔 Why your score might change
Sometimes your score goes up or down due to multiple changes happening at once. For example:
Your resting heart rate improves (good), but your exercise minutes decrease (not so good).
In this case, your score may stay the same or move only slightly, since those changes balance each other out.
If only one of your metrics shifts, it may be easier to spot what caused the change. But if several metrics change, especially in opposite directions, it's harder to interpret.
🔍 What's coming next
We know it can be challenging to understand exactly why a score changed. We're working on adding tools inside the app to give you clearer insights into how each metric influences your risk scores.
