Having trouble measuring your heart rate during workouts on Apple Watch?

If you're seeing workout sessions appear in Cardiogram but no heart rate data is recorded, it may be due to a setting on your Apple Watch that disables the heart rate sensor to conserve battery.

⚙️ Why this happens

Apple offers a Power Saving Mode that disables the optical heart rate sensor during certain workouts, such as walking or running. When this setting is turned on, Cardiogram won’t receive any heart rate data for that workout — even though the workout itself appears.

🔧 How to fix it

To make sure your Apple Watch records heart rate during workouts:

  1. On your Apple Watch, open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and tap Workout
  3. Find the Power Saving Mode toggle
  4. Slide it off

That’s it. Your future workouts should now include heart rate data as expected.
