How do I make Cardiogram collect data more frequently?
Increasing the frequency of heart rate readings can provide more detailed insights but may reduce your wearable's battery life. Here's how to adjust settings on your device:
Apple Watch
By default, Apple Watch records heart rate every 3–7 minutes. To increase this frequency:
- Open the Cardiogram app on your Apple Watch.
- Swipe left to access Continuous Recording.
- Tap Start to begin collecting heart rate data every 5 seconds.
This mode is similar to starting a workout and is useful for detailed monitoring during specific activities.
Wear OS
For Wear OS devices:
- Open the Cardiogram app on your watch.
- Swipe left twice to find Background Measurements.
- Adjust the measurement frequency as desired.
To maintain your chosen frequency, launch the Cardiogram app daily. Some devices may restrict background activity due to battery optimization settings.
Fitbit
Fitbit devices typically record heart rate every 5 to 20 seconds. To ensure timely data syncing with Cardiogram:
- Keep your phone nearby and connected to your Fitbit.
- Open the Fitbit app on your phone to manually sync data if needed.
Note: Cardiogram receives data after it syncs through the Fitbit app; there may be a delay in data appearance.
Garmin
Garmin devices generally record heart rate every 15 seconds. Data is synced to Cardiogram after your watch connects with the Garmin Connect app on your phone. There may be a delay before data appears in Cardiogram due to this syncing process.
