How to Track POTS Symptoms Using Cardiogram

If you’re managing POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), Cardiogram can help you spot heart rate trends, log symptoms, and share your data with your doctor. Here’s how to use the app to track your condition effectively.

✅ Step 1: Wear Your Device Consistently

Cardiogram works best with a compatible smartwatch like:

  • Apple Watch
  • Fitbit
  • Google Pixel Watch
  • Wear OS watches
  • Garmin watches

Wear your device throughout the day, especially during:

  • Waking up
  • Standing up
  • Walking or light activity

This helps the app detect heart rate spikes and changes related to POTS.

🏷️ Step 2: Tag Symptoms and Activities

When you feel a symptom, use tags to log what’s happening.

To tag a symptom:

  1. Open your Timeline page.
  2. Tap the “...” button at the top left of your daily measurements chart.
  3. Select “Add Tag” and select the time range you would like to tag.
  4. Add a tag name, choose options like:
    • Dizziness
    • Fatigue
    • Palpitations
    • Lightheadedness
    • Standing, Sitting, Walking
  5. Select "Save"

These tags appear in your Timeline to help you and your doctor connect symptoms to changes in heart rate.

🕒 Step 3: Use Continuous Mode for More Frequent Readings

If you want to capture fast changes in your heart rate, Continuous Mode on the Cardiogram watch app provides more frequent measurements temporarily.

Note: Continuous Mode may use more battery and may not be available on all devices.

🩺 Step 4: Log Your Blood Pressure (Optional)

If you take your blood pressure manually, you can log it:

  1. Go to the PA (Blood Pressure) tab.
  2. Tap “+ Add Measurement.”
  3. Enter your systolic/diastolic numbers.
  4. Add a note like “lying down” or “after standing” to track posture-related changes.

📊 Step 5: Review Your Timeline

Use the Timeline tab to view your heart rate throughout the day. Look for:

  • Sudden spikes when standing or walking
  • Fluctuations after meals or during stress
  • Tagged symptoms for additional context

This view helps you see daily patterns related to your condition.

📄 Step 6: Share Your Data with Your Doctor

Cardiogram makes it easy to share your data during appointments.

To export your report:

  1. Open the Cardiogram app.
  2. Go to the Reports page.
  3. Scroll down and tap “Share with doctor.”
  4. Choose to export your data as a PDF or CSV file.

This report includes heart rate trends, symptoms, and optional blood pressure readings—ideal for giving your doctor a full picture.
