Why are some of the heart rate bars missing in my Cardiogram?
Seeing gaps in your Cardiogram timeline can be confusing, but don’t worry. These are normal and usually caused by how and when your wearable collects heart rate data.
🛑 What causes missing bars?
Cardiogram reads data from your wearable’s sensor, not directly from your heart in real time. When there’s a gap:
- The watch did not collect a heart rate reading at that time
- Or, the manufacturer’s algorithm determined the reading was inaccurate and discarded it
🏃♀️ Why it happens during workouts
Gaps are especially common during intense movement. This can happen when:
- The watch loses tight skin contact (often due to sweat or arm motion)
- The optical sensor struggles to get a clean signal
✅ Tip: Tighten your watch band before exercise to reduce gaps during workouts.
🕒 Cardiogram does not limit how often data is collected
Cardiogram itself doesn’t restrict the number of heart rate readings per day — it simply displays what your watch provides.

💬 Still seeing unusual gaps?
If the gaps seem extreme or persistent:
- Make sure your wearable is fully charged
- Check that it’s fitted snugly on your wrist
- Ensure the companion app (like Apple Health, Fitbit, etc.) is syncing regularly
