Why is my resting heart rate different between apps?
If your resting heart rate (RHR) looks different in Cardiogram compared to other apps, you're not alone — and it's not necessarily a sign of a problem.
📊 Why the numbers might not match
Even though most health apps use the same source data, they may calculate your resting heart rate using different methods.
Cardiogram uses a proprietary algorithm that analyzes patterns in your heart rate throughout the day — not just single readings — to estimate your resting heart rate. This method may prioritize certain times of day or filter out elevated readings due to movement or stress.
Other apps, like Fitbit, Apple Health, or Garmin Connect, may use different time windows or definitions for “rest,” which can lead to slightly different results.
🍎 Apple Watch users
If you're using an Apple Watch, Cardiogram pulls your resting heart rate directly from Apple Health. In this case, your RHR should match across both apps.
If you're still seeing a difference on Apple Watch:
• Make sure both apps are using the same day or time frame
• Check that Cardiogram has the correct HealthKit permissions enabled in your iPhone’s Health app
