How to Use Cardiogram to Monitor Bradycardia

Bradycardia is when your heart rate is slower than normal — typically below 60 beats per minute. While it can be normal for athletes, for others it may lead to fatigue, dizziness, or fainting. Cardiogram can help you track heart rate patternslog symptoms, and share your data with your doctor.

✅ Step 1: Wear Your Device Consistently

For the most accurate tracking, wear a compatible smartwatch as much as possible — especially during rest and sleep. Cardiogram supports:

  • Apple Watch
  • Fitbit
  • Google Pixel Watch
  • Wear OS watches
  • Garmin watches

Wearing your watch consistently helps Cardiogram capture:

  • Low resting heart rates
  • Nighttime dips
  • Subtle rhythm changes

📈 Step 2: Review Heart Rate Trends in Your Timeline

Go to the Timeline tab in the Cardiogram app to explore your heart rate over time.

Watch for:

  • Heart rate readings below 60 bpm
  • Drops in heart rate during sleep or long rest periods
  • Patterns that match when you’re feeling off

You can pinch and zoom to view data by minute, hour, or day.

🏷️ Step 3: Tag Symptoms When You Feel Them

Bradycardia symptoms can come and go, so tagging them helps build a better history.

To log symptoms like:

  • Fatigue
  • Lightheadedness
  • Dizziness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fainting

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Timeline tab
  2. Tap the “...” at the top left of the day
  3. Tap “Add Tag”
  4. Select a time range and enter your symptoms
  5. Tap Save

Tags appear directly on your Timeline and are included in exports.

🕒 Step 4: Use Continuous Mode to Capture Real-Time Drops

If you feel something unusual happening with your heart, you can activate Continuous Mode on your watch app for more frequent readings.

Continuous Mode provides more frequent heart rate samples for a short time. It may use more battery and isn’t available on all devices.

🩺 Step 5: Log Blood Pressure or Medications

You can manually log blood pressure and related notes directly in the app.

To log a BP reading:

  1. Tap the BP tab at the bottom of the app
  2. Tap “+ New Log” in the top right corner
  3. Enter your systolic/diastolic values
  4. Add a note like “after exercise” or “before bed” if helpful
  5. Tap Save

This is useful if your bradycardia is tied to other conditions or medications like beta-blockers.

📄 Step 6: Share Your Data with Your Doctor

Exporting your data makes it easier to discuss trends with your provider.

To share:

  1. Open the Reports tab (📈 icon)
  2. Scroll to “Share with doctor”
  3. Choose PDF or CSV format

Your report includes:

  • Heart rate graphs
  • Tags and symptoms
  • Blood pressure logs (if added)

🚨 Set Up Low Heart Rate Alerts in Cardiogram

Cardiogram can send a Low Heart Rate Alert when your heart drops below a threshold you set.

To enable alerts:

  1. Go to the Timeline tab
  2. Tap the menu (☰) in the top left corner
  3. Tap “General”
  4. Scroll to “Heart Rate Alert”
  5. Set your Low Heart Rate threshold
  6. Make sure push notifications are enabled in your phone’s system settings

Note: Alerts are only sent if Cardiogram is receiving consistent data from your device.
